At the end of the lesson students will be able to:

• Discuss their knowledge of transformations.

• Define the types of transformations.

• Relate the idea of transformations to everyday life.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

 Students have knowledge of transformations from everyday life. As teenagers they are particularly interested in cartoons of some kind or another and can use this as a benchmark for understanding transformations.

 

TRANSFORMATIONS 2

At the end of the lesson students will be able to:                                      

• Define a translation

• Identify a translation.

• Represent a translation graphically using a column vector.

• Determine the translation vector given co-ordinates of object and image.

• Share ideas with classmates.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Students have been able to define a transformation and have been exposed to translations in cartoons and everyday life. They have also covered a module involving vectors and construction of graphs.
